JUDY LIU, M.D.

Retina Surgeon

Dr. Liu was born in Miaoli, Taiwan, and raised in eastern Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate degree at Harvard College and then went on to earn a Master’s degree in the History of Medicine at Harvard University. She received her M.D. degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, then went on to do her internship at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Liu completed a residency in General Ophthalmology as well as a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Liu has served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology (adjunct faculty) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is fluent in Taiwanese.

Dr. Liu specializes in a variety of medical and surgical conditions of the retina and vitreous including age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment repair, endophthalmitis, uveitis and retinal vascular diseases. She has been involved with clinical research on diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Liu is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
